When his father gets a job transfer, Shiro Kaname moves into the Seiryo Mitsuba Academy dorms, where he meets single mom and dorm matron Yoriko Sakamoto, his classmate and girls' dorm resident Aoi Hayama, final-year student Haru Asakiri, and fellow boys' dorm mates Mitsuru Takeda and Shizuto Narumi. Just as he starts adjusting to dorm life, however, he stumbles into a mysterious encounter.
Late one night, on his way back to the dorms from the convenience store, Shiro attempts a shortcut through the woods and finds himself trapped in a loop, walking the same path over and over again. A grotesque "monster" appears, and he encounters the Blue Empress, a beautiful warrior in gorgeous armor...
Stuck in the ensuing battle between the monster and the Blue Empress, Shiro is taken hostage by the monster and sustains serious injuries when trying to flee. Despite the Blue Empress' valiant efforts, the monster escapes, after which the Blue Empress uses her recovery magic to treat Shiro. Just then, a dazzling light envelops them both... When Shiro comes to, his wounds are healed and beside him, unconscious, is his classmate, Aoi.
On returning to the dorms, the confused Shiro learns from Haru that she and Aoi are Dress Wizards affiliated with the Japanese chapter of an international association of transforming wizards who fight monsters. Apparently, Aoi's fainting was the result of Shiro's hidden capacity for magic—he unknowingly absorbed Aoi's magic powers to heal his own injuries. Shiro is then warned not to tell a soul about their true identities.
Several days later, the monster returns and Aoi and her friends take it on at once. However, with her magic powers absorbed by Shiro, Aoi's magic level is reduced to 1, and she struggles greatly. Blaming himself for his new friends' plight and realizing that his stable life to date was thanks only to their heroic deeds, Shiro resolves to fight for them.

Convinced by Shiro's determination, the Spring Priestess (aka Haru) bestows him with the key item he needs to transform into his own unique form—the war god Walser, vanquisher of demons!
